Team 1in9 – We Did It & We’re PROUD!
In January, 1in9 decided to set a goal for the Komen 5k Race for the Cure. We wanted to make a BIG impact at the race – but what was a reasonable goal? Recruiting a 1in9 Team of 100 or 200 members? Then we had an idea: organize a team of 500. It seemed completely crazy – but we immediately loved the idea…
1in9 reached our goal of 500 only days prior to the race! It wasn’t an easy task but it was worth the effort when Team 1in9 was together for the first time for the team photo. Wow! We made a statement by sheer numbers and how could you miss the 500 bright green 1in9 shirts!
THINK PINK Parade
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, but this year at North Raleigh United Methodist Preschool, “THINK PINK DAY” was celebrated for the first time. Stephanie Beguelin, a dedicated parent and volunteer at the school had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, and the staff, children and parents decided to express their support by declaring a “THINK PINK DAY.” The daylong celebration would include special art projects, breast cancer screening information for parents, a pink parade and a pink balloon release. Even a local TV station attended the event!
