Last week we heard the sad news about our friend Ana C who left us too soon after losing her battle to breast cancer.
We asked 1in9 volunteer Ms. P, who talked with Ana regularly how she felt at hearing the news. Here are her thoughts…
I have such sadness regarding Ana… We had so much more to talk about, reflect upon, share… I feel as though my job is incomplete. Our conversations were delicate, not easy at all once she took a turn for the worse, but the swift hand of death was too unexpected. This intelligent, insightful, kind, and generous woman is gone too soon, it’s a heart-breaker. Tears fall at the thought of her, I wanted to revisit our last conversation, which was, though honest, quite difficult. We covered so much ground…. This was so unexpected… Perhaps I didn’t understand the time frame. I think of those in my family who’ve suffered and are suffering similar fates, and the sadness of such a hopeless situation comes rushing back. I hope and pray and meditate on her journey, and on the gentle hands of God, how he must have held her with such tenderness….
